Suoni Per Il Popolo, between June 6 and 20, 2020, is presenting online with Cinéma moderne FRÉQUENCES AU FÉMININ, a series of four documentaries featuring archives, interviews and performances by Delia Derbyshire, Suzanne Cianne, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith and Ginette Martenot (!).
Sunday, June 7, 7:30 pm: a virtual conversation with Caroline Martel and fellow filmmaker and collaborator Kara Blake on the fundamental contribution of women in the early days of electronic music.

The Festival du film francophone de Grèce will screen Le Chant des Ondes in Athens, where it was awarded the Golden Athena Music & Film grand prize at the Athens International Film Festival last fall.
Then in Mexico at the Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG), the most important cinematographic event in Latin America, Wavemakers is featured among the Quebec films selected as this year’s “Guests of Honour” and will be screened March 23 + 24 at Cinepolis 9.
Grand Toronto Premiere on April 7 presented by Hot Docs! and the Royal Conservatory of Music. Montréal ondist Geneviève Grenier and her Martenot will accompany the film. Tickets now on sale at the Bloor Cinema. We would love to thank our distributor Kino-Smith as well as Musicworks Magazine, which published a feature on the instrument recently.
In Richmond, Virginia, the James River Film Festival will present a double-bill of the two last films of Caroline Martel – who is currently a VCU School of the Arts Global Visiting Scholar teaching film there. On April 12 The Phantom of the Operator at the Grace Street Theatre and Wavemakers on April 13 at the legendary Byrd Theatre.
Preceding Eclectic Laboratory Chamber Orchestra‘s “Radiophonic Fantasies” featuring ondist Geneviève Grenier on April 19, Wavemakers will be screened in Pittsburgh on April 15 at the New Hazlett Theatre.
And finally Le Chant des Ondes will be back in Paris for a special screening at the Gaîté Lyrique on June 18 2014.
We are extremely honoured and touched to see Wavemakers as part of the five nominees for the 2014 Jutra Award for Best Documentary.
The results will be announced at the gala on March 23th.
Equivalent to the Oscars in the USA and the Césars in France, the Jutra Awards are named after Claude Jutra, a pioneer and innovator in fiction and documentary cinema (Take it All, Wow, The Devil’s Toy, Mon Oncle Antoine, etc.).

The Winter 2013-2014 issue of the sound+music magazine Musicworks is just out with a feature dossier on the Ondes Martenot today by guest writer Caroline Martel. It comes with a CD containing 3 original tracks from Wavemakers : the Overture (composed by Clovis Gouaillier), the Échappée du temps movement from Marie Bernard’s Eight Haikus (with the Choeur de l’Art neuf & Ensemble d’Ondes de Montréal) and an extended version of the credits piece Vers l’or (improvised by Suzanne Binet-Audet & Dave Madden).
